Barbara Kopple is a two-time Academy Award-winning and ten-time Emmy-nominated filmmaker, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 44th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards in 2023. She has directed and produced upwards of fifty films throughout her career, including her most recent documentary, Gumbo Coalition, which follows civil rights leaders Marc Morial and Janet Murguía during a pivotal time in American history.
